WACOPS Scholarships

The Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs (WACOPS) is the largest, oldest and most influential organization representing law enforcement professionals in Washington State. We are committed to protecting the rights and quality of life of law enforcement officers through legislative action, legal defense, and the provision of quality long term disability, life, and other insurance products. WACOPS membership is made up of law enforcement guilds from across the state, making our voice strong. The Scholarship Selection Board looks forward to learning more about our member's children and selecting those who demonstrate actions that reflect leadership, integrity, and humility.

The WACOPS Scholarship Program was created to provide scholarship funds for children of current WACOPS members who are in good academic standing. To be eligible, students should be between the ages of 17 and 21 and demonstrate a financial need for a scholarship. High school graduation date or proof of a General Education Degree (GED) certificate is required. Up-to six (6) students may be awarded a one thousand dollars ($1,000) scholarship. This scholarship may be used at any accredited college, vocational/technical or university of the student’s choice, upon proof of enrollment.

All completed applications will be given to the WACOPS Scholarship Selection Board for review. The board will be considering factors that include the student's academic performance, extracurricular activity involvement, work & volunteer experience, future goals, and leadership capacity. Winners will be announced in early June. If selected, each winner will be asked to submit (1) high quality photo and (1) college acceptance letter.
